You're Looking Kind Of Nervous Your
With Your Back Against The Wall Dusk painted the air golden-gray, leaving Gabriel with a feeling of relief. With dusk came night, the close companion. The shadows hid him like an old friend, an ally that never changed. Less people noticed him, so then less people winced when they saw his face. Gabriel sighed softly and leaned back against a brick wall, head tilted back, eyes lifting to the sky.
They flashed briefly with the headlights of a passing car. Something crawled along his arm, and Gabriel slapped at it. His palm came away with a small splotch of red. A mosquito. He scowled and wiped his hand on his pants. Irritating.
Someone walked down the streets, towards him. Gabriel sank back into a niche along the buildings, waiting. As she passed infront of him, his heart jumped into his throat. No, no, no. His voice came out no more than a croak.
"No," he whispered. It'd been years. She couldn't be here, not here, not her. No. Gabriel felt like his thoughts were stuck on an endless loop. First, Gabriel wanted to shrink away, to melt into the brick wall and disappear. Obviously, that wasn't possible. He felt like a trapped animal. When an animal became trapped, unable to escape, it attacked.
With a feral snarl, he lurched out of the shadows and grabbed at her arm, eyes narrowed into silver slits. He hadn't even thought about it. The light of the streetlight illuminated everything, including his face, including the scars. Gabriel could see his reflection in his eyes. Would she recognize him? He didn't care, he just wanted to crush that reflection, crush that mirror of himself.
He hated it. Hated her.

There was a pause, a beat of uncomfortable silence as Juliet's heart fluttered in her chest a bit. Panic splashed through her, a wave roaring through her veins. It couldn't possibly be. With a deep breath--ragged with the fear in her throat--Juliet lifted her chin a fraction of an inch and continued on. Impossible. Or was it really? Something in Juliet's gut told her that she just wanted it to be impossible, but in reality, things were never what they appeared to be. She cleared her throat, all of her muscles begging her to slow down, stop, meet his eyes. But her rationality was dominant tonight. Instinct right now was telling her that Gabriel was back, that she should turn around and see that, please. Instinct was for animals, and Juliet McAfee was surely no animal.
But then there was curiosity. Oh, hell. Juliet knew that curiosity had killed the cat, but Juliet really wasn't any kind of animal. Not even a cat. She flicked her long brown hair over her shoulder, disguising her glance back with a cascade of curls waterfalling through the air. By the time the curls settled, she was facing forward again. Everything was normal. Except her heart was beating a million miles an hour, her step was a little less sure, her chin a fraction of an inch closer to her chest, things that people wouldn't pick up on. But Gabriel had never been like regular people. Juliet wasn't sure of his latest adventures, but she felt she would have known this better than anyone else. Actually, Juliet would go as far as saying she knew for sure that she knew this better than anyone else.
Don't turn around. Don't turn around. Please, please, please-- And this was how curiosity killed the cat. The cat turned around, knowing that this might possibly be the death of them, but certainly no match for their own insatiable desire to know everything. She blinked her large brown eyes, drinking in all of Gabriel that she could. How could she possibly recognize him after all this time? Yet she did. Juliet certainly did. It was hard to erase the memories that he had caused, from their first meeting, vampiric in the graveyard, to the time she'd hidden him in a linen closet, passed out, to the time they'd danced together at a nightclub, terror caught between them. Or, at least Juliet had noticed the terror. For all she knew, Gabriel had mistaken it for amusement.
Yet, there he was. In full, silver-eyed, vampiric, terror. Juliet wondered if she was why he was here. She also wondered if she should be flattered or frightened by the fact that she maybe, possibly, kind of had a stalker. She couldn't blink, couldn't tear her eyes away from Gabriel, couldn't move. She was frozen and the perfect prey to the perfect predator.

Something Takes A Part Of Me
, I don't want to remember, I don't give a damn about you." It'd happened. Gabriel had finally gone over the edge, he just knew it. It'd been coming for years, but this. This had tipped him over. He laughed at the thought. "It's funny. Someone so awful, someone I hate so much. That's what dropped me over the edge." He didn't know if he was talking to her or to the air. "What do you want, Jewels? Here to see me dead?" "What the fuck are you doing here?" Notes: Bwahahaa. Just think Bitch, Spoiled-Rotten Daddy's Princess. That's the Juliet I remember. Song: Freak On A Leash -- Korn [/ul]

Juliet hesitated, stricken by the fact that, yes, this was Gabriel, standing in front of her like a nightmare come to life. Something uncoiled in her, a snake long thought dead rearing it's head to the sky and preparing to strike. It broke through her fear, poison already dripping down it's scales and it's fangs bared to it's opponent. "What am I doing here?". The cold, bitter words dripped with the snake's venom. "I have every right to be here. It's you I'm worried about." She narrowed her eyes. Inwardly, Juliet was screaming for him to stop calling her Jewel. That nickname had fallen into disuse after she'd met him, after he'd practically adopted it. She was no one's Jewel. If anything, she was a freaking diamond, hard, tough and armored, but still precious.
Juliet planted her hands on her hips, mildly aware of how childish and non intimidating it made her seem. But that was okay. She hoped it made her get her point across. "You should probably leave," she said, a threat hanging from her words. "It's easy to get a restraining order and just as easy to have it enforced." That was a lie. If Gabriel was still going to her school, there would be no way to keep him 100 yards away from her at all times. But the threat sounded nice enough to Juliet. Ferocious enough to maybe keep the vampire away from her. A stake through the heart, maybe. But she also knew that there was no way Gabriel would ever think the same thing. Maybe he knew that she was bluffing, that any kind of restraining order she asked would have no reason to be issued unless she lied, which she wasn't exactly above, but might always backfire. She was smart enough to understand that. She needed some good reason to get him away.
And besides, if they investigated long enough, there was no telling what they might uncover about her.
Juliet blinked her eyes slowly, wanting to turn on her heel and walk away, knowing this would certainly show just how much she meant every word that she had said, but still. Never turn your back on someone. Never let them out of your sight if you were truly scared of them. Juliet had done that. She'd let Gabriel escape from her. Out of sight, out of mind.
And as it turned out, look who had happened to appear just when she thought she was safe. WORD COUNT: 413NOTES: Juliet needs some work. Bear with my while I'm remembering how to role play with her. Oh No They Broke Out The Cardboard
Looks Like I'm Heading For The Dance Floor For a moment, they were both frozen. Gabriel knew his feeling was shock, horror. What the hell? Was this some sick twisted joke from Fate? He could practically hear the dice rolling on the board as the gods moved around the pieces. Someone laughed, moving the pieces around.
He half-expected to turn and see Eliza standing there. Yeah, that was what he needed, those two in the same room. Gag. Eyes flashing, he listened to her, advancing.
"I was here first!" Gabriel shouted, realizing he sounded like he was about two years old. He hated her. He'd never hated anyone, not like her. It still amazed him how she'd gone from curious, awestruck, scared and then a downright bitch in about ten seconds.
For awhile, she'd been his Jewel. His little diamond in the rough and tough, and she stuck her neck out with the best of them. Gabriel appeared to sprout a knife from his palm, but he'd merely pressed the release on the switchblade at his wrist sheath. Her threat merely made him laughed, and he started to walk away again, spun on his heel and jabbed his finger towards her.
"Do it!" He snarled. "Are you too scared to deal face to face with me? Is that it? Worried I'll cut up that pretty little face?"
Freak. Vampire. Damned. She judged someone she didn't know, and she'd judged him harshly. This horrible creature had called him a freak, scum that didn't deserve to exist. She'd examined the bruise and busted lip with interest, but she had scolded Cole for being too harsh.
For reasons Gabriel still didn't understand, she'd let him go. Still, he hated her. He wished he'd snapped her neck in that club. He didn't need this, there was too much already. Eliza would flip when she found out what he'd done . . .
Eliza.
If he killed Juliet here and now, then he'd go to jail. Eliza would be so pissed, she'd worry, she'd... be herself. What had happened to Jeremy, and Joey? Gabriel shut his eyes, biting his lip so hard he tasted blood. The coppery scent made his insides twist.
"I'm done, I said. I'm not going to bother you. Just - " He paused, jabbing violently in her direction again.
"Why the hell are you still here?"

Juliet inhaled deeply. "Well," she began in the tone of someone using all of their effort to not throw a temper tantrum. "Now I'm here. And I belong here. You belong in an insane asylum." Juliet felt a throb of anger in her throat. She did belong here! Juliet belonged anywhere she wanted to be. The snake inside of her hissed, flicking it's tail and narrowing it's eyes again. It was true, though, that Juliet could be anywhere she wanted. She might not fit in with the art freaks or the tough ass, future homicidal maniacs, but Juliet technically didn't want to even fit in there. She raised her chin, meeting Gabriel's eerie eyes with her own. He was taller than her. He always had been, but it was still a little bit of a shock. Most guys were either Juliet's height or shorter, and it was rare to find one that was the perfect height. But Gabriel was just that. Her perfect height.
Juliet went numb when she saw the knife. And this was why she hated Gabriel. Because it was things like this that scared the death out of her. Big things like knives and that evil glint in his silver eyes. The littlest things that made her stomach turn, like the scars on him, or the fact that, uh, he wasn't wearing a shirt.
"Why am I still here?" Juliet parroted, anger seeping into her voice. "Why shouldn't I be here? I can be wherever I want to be, vampire," she snarled, placing her hands on her hips again. "And you don't control me." WORD COUNT: 267NOTES: I'm so sorry that it's short!
